At The Likes Of You Agency we have been lucky enough to manage Influencer campaigns for brands for over 5 years across industries including music festivals, hospitality venues, beauty products, fashion, alcohol and lifestyle brands.
Here are some tips and advice for Influencers, Creators and KOLs who want to increase their invitations to partake in campaigns.
The Basics - Setting up your ABN and Organising Your Admin
The ABN is a unique 11 digit number that identifies your business or organisation to the government and community. Whether you are collaborating for an agency or a brand directly, you must have a registered ABN in order to invoice for your work. It’s the law and we can't accept your invoice or pay it without one. Luckily it takes 20 mins max - and it’s free!
You can apply for an ABN as a sole trader online at https://www.abr.gov.au/business-super-funds-charities/applying-abn
Media Kit
This is where you can really sell yourself; no need to go overboard; a 1-pager document is all you need.
What do we want to see?
- Stats from your top-five best performing posts. Screenshots please, include clicks from your stories
- Your insights including your audience location, age and gender
- Your rates
Reaching out to Agencies and Businesses
We love it when Influencers and creators introduce themselves to us. An email or Instagram message saying hello, talking about some brands you have worked with and a link to your media kit is perfect.
Reaching out to businesses are the same, but do your due diligence and research them before, are they currently doing Influencer marketing? Do you align with their brand? What can you provide them?
Hospitality: We advise against any reach out, especially after the last 2 years of the pandemic it can be very tone-deaf. Wait for them to engage with you, or, go through an agency like us and see if there are any invitaions available.
Timelines
Just like we are required to stick to timelines and achieve targets for our clients, you need to also meet deadlines and follow briefs. If you dropped off a clothing item for dry cleaning and were told it would be ready after 7 days, then you go to pick it up and they are still in the middle of cleaning it, you would not be thrilled that you had not been notified. Keep this in mind when running your Influencing business. Represent yourself the best way you can.
If you are running late, need to reshoot (or life happens - we get it!), then all you need to do is communicate.
Wrapping up a Campaign
Want to score more jobs in the future? Make sure you supply us with requested screenshots at the end of the campaign in a timely manner; this makes reporting smooth for us and our clients and we will remember this next time we look to engage you.
